The Michigan City Cruiser Class is dedicated to getting sailboats out of their slips and onto Lake Michigan. We are a group of sailors who enjoy casual but competitive racing. We want to attract new sailors to racing, spinnaker boats who have stopped racing because of difficulties in finding crew, and jib and main boats who are interested in friendly Saturday morning races.
Based in Washington Park Marina in Michigan City, Indiana, we feature easy to navigate ‘reachy’ races with an emphasis on fun and a ratings break for having kids aboard.
We do a quick skipper’s meeting pre-race to discuss the weather and the race course for the day. The meeting is in the pavilion at the 400 dock. Buoy races are kept to less than 2 hours.
If you are looking to crew, come to the skipper’s meeting and we will find you a ride.
All are welcome. No membership or experience is required. Click here to join our mailing list to receive updates on our race schedule and results.
